Vietnam - French telcos look to get online in Vietnam

During September 26 and 27, a delegation of four French telecom and broadband companies will seek opportunities in Vietnam’s information technology companies.

The companies are Broadpeak, Mtarget, Sisteer and Viaccess. The business trip in the frame of a collective mission was organised by the French Trade Commission Ubifrance in Vietnam.

Ubifrance said that this initiative intended to reinforce the links between French and Vietnamese telecommunications players, with the objective of the Vietnamese government to promote the development of information and communication technologies to make it one the main for the leverage for the country’s economic expansion. This mission also would enable the four French companies seeking for developing business and partnerships in Vietnam to better understand the local market.

In addition to the organisation of various dedicated meetings, the highlight of this French-Vietnamese business event will consist in a seminar co-organised with the Vietnam Telecommunications Authority, under the authority of the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications focused on “telecom challenge and broadband development in Vietnam, opportunities of partnerships with French information technology companies”, to be held on September 26.

Previously, the four French companies would take part in a similar event organised by Ubifrance in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for two days.

Ubifrance, the French Agency for international business development, comes under the aegis of France’s Ministry for the economy, Finance and Trade. Ubifrance lies at the heart of France’s public sector export support framework with 80 offices in 60 countries. In Vietnam, the Ubifrance’s multicultural team counts 17 employees in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
