The
US Ambassador to Vietnam, David Shear, and the Vice-Chief of the Ho Chi Minh
City External Affairs Department, Nguyen Tuan, on September 28th cut the ribbon
to open an American Centre run by the US Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh (HCM)
City.
The Centre is located in the 8th floor of
Diamond Plaza Building in the city centre and serves all people for free.
Addressing the opening ceremony, the US
Ambassador said that the Centre is a place for individuals to meet and exchange
with each other. Local researchers can go there to learn more about US history,
economy and culture. Students can have information about the US education and
training systems and opportunities for their further study in the US.
Especially, the Centre will serve as a bridge
between the two countries and peoples and in part contributes to the City’s
already-plentiful cultural life, the US Ambassador said.
