Vietnam - Vietnam ranks eighth in number of students in US

Vietnam is placed eighth among countries which have the highest numbers of students studying in the US, according to the Open Doors 2011 Report on Educational Mobility Exchange Study Abroad Student.

The report has been released recently by the Institute of International Education (IIE) and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) at the US Department of State.

Helen Huntley, IIE Country Director in Vietnam, said the US is still an attractive destination for Vietnamese students.

This is thanks to the provision of detailed information on studies in the country by the educational consultancy office in Vietnam as well as by US universities and colleges involved in some educational exhibitions.

Vietnam, China, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Venezuela have seen the numbers of their students in the US growing at an average annual rate of more than 10 percent.

Currently, 686 US students are taking courses in Vietnam.
