The Hanoitimes - The EU will
provide Vietnam with €39.25 million to help the country improve access to and
the quality of its public healthcare services, especially for poor and
vulnerable people.
The aid is part of a financial
agreement signed in Brussels on December 6 by Vietnamese Minister of Finance
Vuong Dinh Hue and Dirk Meganck, Director for Asia at the EuropeAid Cooperation
Office, in the presence of Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung
and the EU Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht.
The programme is expected to
improve the reforms of Vietnam’s healthcare sector by increasing the management
and coordination capacity of the Ministry of Public Health, ensuring the
effectiveness of and equality within the sector’s finance system, meeting the
growing demand for healthcare services, and improving access to pharmaceutical
products, vaccines, and other medical technologies.
