Vietnam - €39 million to back Vietnam’s healthcare policies



The Hanoitimes - The EU will provide Vietnam with €39.25 million to help the country improve access to and the quality of its public healthcare services, especially for poor and vulnerable people.

The aid is part of a financial agreement signed in Brussels o­n December 6 by Vietnamese Minister of Finance Vuong Dinh Hue and Dirk Meganck, Director for Asia at the EuropeAid Cooperation Office, in the presence of Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung and the EU Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht.

The programme is expected to improve the reforms of Vietnam’s healthcare sector by increasing the management and coordination capacity of the Ministry of Public Health, ensuring the effectiveness of and equality within the sector’s finance system, meeting the growing demand for healthcare services, and improving access to pharmaceutical products, vaccines, and other medical technologies.
