Laos - Monthly cabinet meeting discusses focal issues



(KPL) Monthly cabinet meeting for February was held in Vientiane on 21-22 Feb under the presidency of Prime Minister, Mr. Thongsing Thammavong, drawing line Deputy Prime Ministers and members of the government and relevant sectors.

The meeting has considered different drafts of policies, strategies, laws and decrees especially policy on human resources development, a strategic plan on promotion of gender role in the top administration sector (2011-2015) and the determination of 49 national protection forests in 16 provinces countrywide.

Two amended draft laws on agriculture and inspection have also been risen at the the meeting.

They have also discussed five drafts of decree on law enforcement of statistic, ethic civil servant, poverty benchmarks and development measure (2012-2015), standard and an amended policy on cost of electricity (2011-2016).

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the meeting, Premier Thongsing said that the meeting would discuss and consider different and necessary issues are involved in the socio-economic development in country and he has asked for the sector concerned to report particular issues that have not unanimously agreed and unclear especially the issuance of policy that conflicted other law.

At the same time, the government members have frankly shared ideas with the high responsibilities on focal and realistic issues in order to approve each issue unanimously.
