ROMPIN:
Workplace stress is not confined to
certain professions and occurs across the board, including journalism, said Deputy
Human Resources Minister Datuk Maznah Mazlan.
Maznah,
who is National Council of Occupational Safety and Health chairperson,
emphasised that if stress is neglected it could jeorpadise the staff
performance and their environment.
"Stress
definitely needs to be attended to, as the International Labour Organisation
has identified it as one of the main hazards among workers in this
century," she told reporters here.
"In
extreme cases the victim's stress not only affects their behaviour but also has
an impact on their colleagues," she added.
She was
commenting on the death of a houseman at the Kajang Hospital who recently died
of an alleged drug overdose due to work pressure.
