VietNamNet Bridge – Schoolgirls from well-off families nowadays
believe that they have to go to school on luxurious motorbikes and in expensive
clothes to show up their upper class.
In the past, hairdressers’ loyal
clients were young girls and middle age women, who had high monthly incomes.
Nowadays, schoolgirls, who cannot earn money and live on their parents, have
also become the “distinguished customers” of the hairdressers.
As the living standards are
improving every day, schoolgirls now have a higher demand for polishing their
images. Wearing expensive clothes and driving luxurious motorbikes are the ways
the students from well-off families follow to differentiate themselves from the
poor students.
The high schools in the central
areas of Hanoi are believed to be the schools of hot girls and hot boys who
wear expensive and stylish clothes. Schoolgirls have to wear uniforms on
weekdays, but they throat open their shirts, while wearing cowboy jeans or the
trousers out at the knee.
Linh, born in 1998, who is now a
10th grader of the Ha Dong High School, said that she never buy clothes from
small traditional markets, but goes to the shops which specialize in selling
branded fashionable clothes on Chua Boc, Ba Trieu and Hang Bong streets.
“I like the products with Bo sua
(milk cow), Zaz or Ninomax brands. The clothes here are priced between several
hundreds of thousands of dong and several million dong,” Linh said.
The collection of shoes and handbags
a schoolgirl of a high school in Thanh Xuan School in Hanoi reportedly has the
value of 20 million dong.
Meanwhile, in Vietnam, those who
can earn 10 million dong a month would be listed as high income earners.
Linh said that she goes shopping
twice a month, and spends nearly 10 million dong each time. “I am getting lazy
now. I have not dropped into any shop over the last two months. Now I have to
check on Internet first, before going to the shops, to be sure that I can find
the things I want,” she said.
Trang, a 11th grader of the Le
Quy Don High School in Ha Dong District, said her friends can be divided into
three groups, including the excellent students from poor families, bad students
from well-off families, and good students from rich families.
“Playboys and playgirls go
shopping once in every three days. They drive luxurious motorbikes to school,
Liberty or SH, while they use high grade mobile phones like iPhone and Galaxy.
Trang said that it is easy to
find out which class students belong to by looking at their clothes and styles.
“Rich students not only wear luxurious and original clothes, but they also have
their special styles. Especially, the clothes need to match with shoes,
lipsticks, handbags or scarves,” she said.
“Schoolgirls nowadays like
wearing the shirts and trousers clinging to their figures, saying that these
are now in vogue in the world, even though they are not allowed to wear such
clothes to school,” Linh continued.
Where to go to have hair taken
care, what lipsticks to use and what brands are the most well known are the
main topics in the discussions of the schoolgirls on break time.
Of course, these are the
schoolgirls from rich families, while poor students would not join the groups
of students. The students, who do not have fashionable clothes, would be called
the “rustic girls.”
“Since you have a bright skin,
you should you the lipstick with orange color. If you use perfume, it would be
better to use Chanel products, though they are a bit expensive. Buy Gucci
handbags and Louboutin shoes,” a girl was seen talking with a friend at a café
shop.
