A total of 100 personnel from both Brunei and
Malaysian air forces took part in the manoeuvre which was part of the 10th

of Defence yesterday, the training was hoped to enhance cooperation and
understanding in facilitating communication procedures, particularly in search
and rescue operations, to improve the quality of planning, coordination and
implementation process in the search and rescue operations, to evaluate and
recommend initiatives to increase the level of inter-operability and readiness
of both sides as well as to strengthen, foster and strengthen ties all the
members of both parties involved.
Apart from the mentioned objectives, SAREX
MALBRU will maintain communication systems through IT methods in exchanging
information with the both forces, particularly the exchange of data in the form
of graphics and text (Search Plan, Weather Forecast, Activity Log, and others)
through the computer equipment between the Rescue Sub-Centres (RSC).
Yesterday's drill took place at an estimated
five nautical miles off the coast. The next training exercise will be held next
year and will be hosted by the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
