- The National Hospital of Odontostomatolgy (NHO) in coordination with the
Korean Cleft Lip and Palate Association opened a charity week on October 3 to
offer surgery for children with hare lips and cleft palates.
This is the eighth time Professor Shin Kyo
Keun, along with 18 others from the Republic of Korea and Japan, has worked
with the NHO to perform such humanitarian surgeries for children.
More than 40 children will undergo surgery
this week.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy
Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Xuyen thanked the Korean and Japanese surgeons
for their regular assistance and said that the charity work will bring much
happiness for the children and their families.
The Korean and Japanese professors and doctors
also trained Vietnamese doctors, contributing to strengthening friendship and
cooperative relations among the health sectors of the three countries.
NHO Director Trinh Dinh Hai said that the
hospital announced the charity work in August 2011, and disabled children
across the country can contact the hospital to receive free surgery all year
round.
